What has man made of man?

Whether consciously or not, every day we encounter the very question: what has man made of man? This is the very same question that Wordsworth leaves his audience pondering in Lines Written in Early Spring. We as a species have become so excluded from nature that we no longer are able to fully enjoy our surroundings. Because of our self inflicted fast paced life styles and over loaded schedules, society misses the free and simple pleasures of life. Both the budding twigs and the flowers are full of pleasure and delight by simply taking in the air around them. As Americans, we live in cities full of sky scrapers and factories where the air is no longer enjoyable – instead it is full of wretched smells and pollution. It becomes thick from our unnatural ways of life and yet we press on with our schedules with no one to blame but ourselves. When will we wake up and realize that the sounds of nature have become a part of the past, and that we are no longer pleasured by our surroundings? More importantly, when will we wake up and realize that the answer to what has man made of man is staring back in the mirror?

Sounds of the City... Sounds of Nature... And sadly they come from the same world....
